Alberto Cont Prints

Over the weekend the framed prints I ordered from Art.com for my living room finally arrived! They’re coordinating paintings by the artist Alberto Cont, and delightfully colorful and big, at 32″ square. I’ve been slowly redecorating my living room, starting with a much-needed new sofa (to replace the faded, stained, and termite-infested old one), then a matching armchair, a rug, and various other bits and pieces, but I think these prints might finally tie the whole room together (like the rug in The Big Lebowski):

And here’s how they fit into my overall vision for my living room (always a work in progress):

I still need to get around to painting the dots on the wall behind the cat tree, and I can’t decide what color or pattern to use for my footstools, but I think that overall it’s getting close. I’ll post a photo once I have the new artwork up on the wall, but to get the full effect you may just have to come over and enjoy a cocktail while soaking in the decor.

One Sheet of Paper

I have Erica to thank for this post, she sent me this collection of entries for an art contest at the Hirshorn Modern Art Gallery in DC. The rule was that the artist could use only one sheet of paper. My favorites are these framed ones, but they’re all pretty amazing. (See the full collection)
